The classic ‘diamond line bracelet’, or ‘eternity bracelet’, came to be known as a ‘tennis bracelet’ during a 1987 tennis match when tennis star Chris Evert lost her signature accessory during that year’s US Open. The match came to a standstill as Evert recovered her bracelet. The moment received international attention and the term ‘tennis bracelet’ was coined.
Today the tennis bracelet remains a popular jewellery staple. It’s a popular piece to complete formal looks and is often worn alongside watches as an everyday look.
