What’s in a name? The story behind Moi Moi
Moi Moi means ‘little sister’ in Cantonese—a name chosen by our founder, Lauren, to celebrate the partnership with her sister, Alana, in starting our company.
We’re proud to be a family-run business, and the name reflects our close-knit beginnings.
But there’s more to our name than family ties:
- ‘Moi’ is a nod to Moissanite, our signature gemstone, known globally for its unrivalled beauty and brilliance.
- In French, ‘Moi Moi’ translates to ‘me, me’, highlighting that our jewellery is perfect for treating yourself, as well as being wonderful gifts.
- ‘Moi’ also means ‘Hello!’ in Finnish, which captures the warm welcome we extend to you, whether you visit our store or browse our website.
- Moi also derives from the Dutch word mo(o)i, meaning “beautiful”!
